Describe cloud computing and how it is impacting architecture choices

Answer : Cloud computing refers to the amalgamation of different components in terms of databases, software capabilities that are leveraged in order to solve critical business problems. The various components of cloud architects are

  • On premise resources
  • Cloud resources
  • Software components and services
  • Middleware

The cloud architecture aims at providing the user with high bandwidth letting them have uninterrupted access to data and applications. Hence it is a model where the storage and computing capacity is provided as a service. The main drive to use it to cut costs, provide economies of scale and maintainability which is the essence.

Depending on the organization’s need and objectives they can go for three types of cloud architectures:

  • Public cloud which is hosted by popular biggies like Amazon Web services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure
  • Private cloud which is provided by custom software development companies
  • Hybrid cloud which is a mix of both public and private. Here the organization can make a choice about which functionalities should go on public and which ones
